Dear Sir/Madam
Milk is the only food which is considered nature’s almost perfect food. It is a treasure house of unlimited nutrients. It is considered best and ideal food by virtue of possessing carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals. They are not only of a high quality but are present in milk such a form and proportion that they are digested and assimilated in the body very efficiently. Milk also plays a supplementary role in our nutrition. In other words, if it is included in our diet, it enhances the digestion and assimilation of other dietary constituents. Newer components with specialized functions are being found in milk with the advance of science – to cite a few conjugated linoleic acid, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, lysozymes, lactoperoxidase vitamin B12 binding protein, derived peptides, etc. Milk and milk products serve as ideal vehicle to deliver functional ingredients such as phytosterols, stanols, probiotics, micronutrients etc. In view of the significant impact of milk on nutritional well being and public health there is an urgent need for deliberating these key issues and popularizing milk consumption. The Dairy Technology Society of India therefore proposes to organize a “National Seminar on Food Value of Milk” during November 24-25, 2008 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Mumbai.
Dairy Technology Society of India which is organizing the seminar is a forum dedicated to promote scientific discussion and exchange of ideas in the broader areas of Dairy Processing in general and Dairy Technology in particular. It has in the past organized highly successful National and International Conference at National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the “National Seminar on Food Value of Milk” we take great pleasure in inviting you to this great event which shall bring together dairy & food researchers, academicians, industrialists, policy makers, farmers and students from all over the country to participate and exchange ideas and highlight new advances that have taken place to bolster the image of milk as nutritionally complete food.
